IVM at InviMed Clinic
in vitro maturation (IVM) - the method consists in conducting supported growth of immature egg cells (oocytes) outside woman's organism. The method does not require hormonal stimulation since immature cells are retrieved.
The maturing period of oocytes in laboratory conditions lasts for 29-30 hours. Then, microinjection of a sperm cell into a mature oocyte is made (ICSI). Since that moment on, the embryo is treated in the same way as embryos in traditional ivf cycles.

The IVM is mainly used in patients with polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCO) and in patients with ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS) who cannot undergo hormonal stimulation. The IVM is also used in patients who show a weak response to medicines for hormonal stimulation or symptoms of premature ovarian failure.

InviMed Clinic in Warsaw conducts IVM cycles and achieves very good results. By July 2008 a few dozen patients of the Clinic in whom hormonal stimulation could not be used became pregnant thanks to the safe IVM method.
