Why IVF ?

IVF (in vitro fertilisation) is the most popular fertility treatment available with over 1.5 million procedures performed each year.

IVF has helped numerous women in cases, including the inability to ovulate, fallopian tube obstruction and a male partner's low fertility. It is also used when the reasons for infertility cannot be diagnosed.

IVF involves fertilising egg cells outside of the female body in laboratory conditions. A woman may choose to use her own eggs or donor eggs. The treatment is available for couples, no matter if married or unmarried.

What are the steps?

Choose the treatment you are interested in:

  • 1Qualification Visit

Both patients visit InviMed for a medical examination and blood tests and to discuss medical interviews they sent before. Based on the results, doctors can decide if the IVF programme fits the patient. The doctor will prescribe medicines to patients who qualify and guide them through the rest of the process.

  • 2Preparation

Patients take the medication prescribed in the first visit to prepare for the treatment. This includes hormonal stimulation that increases the number of mature eggs that will be available. There should be a medical check 4-5 days after the first dose. This may be at InviMed or in the home country. If performed with a local doctor, patients must inform InviMed about the results.

  • 3Egg Cell (Ovum) Collection

8-10 days after patients start taking the medicine, patients have an appointment at InviMed. 2 days later, the eggs are released using hormonal induction. These egg cells are then collected in a short, painless procedure.

  • 4Sperm collection

On the day of ovum collection, your partner will provide sperm. If needed, sperm cells may also be collected from a testicle or epididymis in a separate procedure.

  • 5In Vitro Fertilisation (IVF)

In vitro fertilisation of the egg cells takes place in the laboratory using your partner's sperm. This happens 2-5 days after ovum collection.

  • 6Embryo Transfer

1 or 2 embryos are placed in the uterine cavity. Afterwards patients can usually travel home. However, we recommend travelling on the following day if possible.

  • 7After Transfer

Pregnancy tests to confirm pregnancy are performed in the patient's home country: - 14 days after, a beta-hCG pregnancy test (blood test) - 4-5 weeks after, an ultrasound scan of the embryo In this period, medicines which increase the chances of embryo implantation may also be prescribed based on the individual case.
